Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Network Operations Center (NOC) Engineer to join our team at Smart Solutions Technologies - SST.

The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring, troubleshooting, and performing basic operations support for Nokia DWDM networks in Muscat.

This role involves first-line fault detection, ticket creation, escalation to L2/L3 teams when necessary, and ensuring high network availability and performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Network Monitoring: Monitor alarms, events, and performance KPIs on Nokia DWDM equipment via NMS like Nokia 1350 OMS.
  • Fault Management: Perform initial diagnosis of DWDM network issues, log, categorize, and prioritize incidents and requests in the ticketing system.
  • Escalation and Coordination: Escalate complex faults to L2/L3 or Field teams following defined SLA timelines, coordinate with field engineers and vendors for fault rectification activities.
  • Maintenance and Support: Assist in planned maintenance windows and provide support for scheduled upgrades or patching activities, validate post-maintenance network health.
  • Reporting: Prepare and share shift-wise handover reports and fault summary reports, update technical documentation and operational procedures when necessary.

Requirements:

  • Understanding of DWDM technologies, hands-on experience with Nokia DWDM platforms like 1830 PSS, basic knowledge of network management tools.
  • Familiarity with optical performance metrics, basic TCP/IP, Ethernet, and IP networking knowledge.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Telecommunications, or related field, 0-2 years of experience in NOC operations or optical network support.
  • Nokia certifications are a plus, strong communication and analytical skills, ability to work under pressure in a shift-based environment, problem-solving attitude and eagerness to learn.
Working Conditions

This is a full-time position with a rotational 24x7 shift schedule.
