Job Title: IT Infrastructure Support Specialist

Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced IT infrastructure support specialist to join our team. This is a key role that will involve providing technical expertise and support for the design, implementation, and maintenance of our server infrastructure.

Responsibilities:
  • Design, implement, and maintain Windows servers and related systems.
  • Install and configure all applications and software components, including relevant patches and updates.
  • Provide 24/7 support for mission-critical systems, ensuring high availability and reliability.
  • Analyze system performance and optimize resource utilization to ensure efficient operation.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to facilitate maintenance, upgrades, and enhancements of server infrastructure.
  • Investigate and resolve hardware and software issues affecting server availability and reliability.
  • Handle service desk tickets for server-related incidents and requests, prioritizing tasks as needed.
  • Coordinate with infrastructure support, network engineering, and database administration teams to resolve issues within defined SLAs.
  • Support business continuity and disaster recovery plans, executing required processes and managing execution.
  • Maintain system backups and assist with backup restoration requirements.
  • Develop and implement PowerShell scripts to automate processes.
  • Contribute to feasibility studies for system upgrade projects, improvements, and migrations.
  • Work with stakeholders to develop strategies and deliver service improvement initiatives for server infrastructure.
  • Participate in product evaluations, service selections, and tender assessments.
  • Lead technical design and review of new server systems, applications, and hardware, and provide support for capacity planning.
  • Execute business and IT projects with server-related deliverables, ensuring proper resource allocation and close monitoring of project scope and schedule.
  • Provide expert technical advice, analysis, and recommendations, building relationships across stakeholder groups and identifying opportunities to meet business goals.
  • Develop and maintain policies, procedures, and documentation for system management, security, maintenance, usage, problem detection/resolution.
  • Manage patch releases and develop patch installation strategies to maintain systems according to defined standards.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate/security policies and governmental regulations, interacting with internal and external auditors as needed.
  • Maintain accurate, detailed, and up-to-date inventory of all server assets.

Requirements:
  • Omani National
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience as a Windows server administrator, including experience in design, installation, configuration, maintenance, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
  • Previous experience in an enterprise environment, preferably in the banking sector.
  • Technical background and extensive knowledge working with versions of Windows Server Operating Systems.
  • Industry-recognized certifications in Windows server administration are required.
  • Working knowledge with VMware is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience working with PowerShell scripting.
  • Experience with backup/recovery best practices.
  • Experience with server performance tuning and monitoring tools.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Applications and Services (IIS, DNS/DHCP, WINS).
  • Solid understanding and experience with Active Directory.
  • Implementation of best security practices.
  • Familiarity with TCP/IP and other network protocols.
  • Working knowledge of Project management methods.
  • Ability to conduct research into server issues and products as required.
  • Ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language.
  • Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and evaluative skills to resolve problems that are technical in nature, deal with all inquiries effectively and responsively, recognizing difficult situations and responding accordingly.
  • Working exposure in ITIL model of service support and primarily into Problem Management and Incident Management.
