As a seasoned accounting professional, you will play a pivotal role in leading and managing the General Ledger (GL) function. Your primary objective will be to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant financial records that serve as the foundation for reliable financial reporting and strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities
  • GL Management & Financial Close:
    • Oversight of all journal entries related to accruals, provisions, amortizations, and cost allocations in compliance with IFRS.
    • Management of the monthly and year-end closing process, ensuring completeness, timeliness, and accuracy of the financial results.
    • Maintenance of the integrity of the chart of accounts and ensuring the accurate classification and recording of transactions.
  • Reconciliation & Review:
    • Supervision of the preparation and review of reconciliations for key balance sheet accounts, including fixed assets, intercompany accounts, and lease liabilities.
    • Investigation and resolution of discrepancies, ensuring all reconciliations are audit-ready and comply with internal controls and accounting standards.
    • Ensuring that all reconciling items are cleared on time and proper documentation is maintained.
  • Fixed Asset Accounting:
    • Oversight of the full cycle of fixed asset accounting, including asset acquisition, depreciation, revaluation, and disposals.
    • Ensuring that fixed assets are correctly categorized and recorded in line with company policies and IFRS guidelines.
    • Preparation of detailed asset schedules for reporting purposes and coordination with other teams for asset verification.
  • Lease Accounting (IFRS 16):
    • Management of lease accounting in compliance with IFRS 16, ensuring accurate recognition, measurement, and reporting of lease liabilities and right-of-use assets.
    • Oversight of lease-related journal entries, monthly adjustments, and disclosures.
    • Liaising with Procurement and other departments to ensure lease contracts are recorded accurately and consistently.
  • Data Accuracy & Integrity:
    • Promoting initiatives to enhance the consistency, completeness, and accuracy of financial data across systems and reports.
    • Collaboration with cross-functional teams to resolve data-related issues and implement preventative controls.
    • Ensuring proper mapping and classification of transactions in the ERP system to facilitate clean financial reporting.
  • Process Enhancement & Automation:
    • Identification of opportunities to streamline and automate recurring GL processes, reducing manual intervention and enhancing process efficiency.
    • Supporting ERP system improvements, including enhancements to fixed asset and lease accounting functionality.
    • Standardization of GL accounting processes and ensuring proper documentation of accounting procedures and controls.
  • Compliance & Audit:
    • Ensuring compliance with IFRS, local regulations, and company financial policies.
    • Coordination with internal and external auditors, providing required schedules, reconciliations, and documentation.
    • Implementation of recommendations from audit findings to further strengthen the internal control environment.
  • Reporting & Coordination:
    • Collaboration with FP&A and other finance teams to ensure accurate alignment between actuals and budgets/forecasts.
    • Preparation or validation of internal financial reports, including balance sheet and P&L statements, and support for ad-hoc analysis.
    • Work with departments such as Engineering, Procurement, and Commercial to ensure proper accounting of costs and accruals.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Leadership and development of a high-performing GL accounting team, fostering accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
    • Setting performance goals, conducting regular reviews, and providing guidance and mentoring to team members.
