Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Software Engineer to join our team and contribute to building the next generation of immutable Ubuntu desktop. In this role, you will be part of a dedicated team that combines the best ideas of immutable Linux with the latest Linux desktop experience. Your goal will be to put Linux desktops back at the forefront of security, reliability, and usability.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in a technical subject or equivalent experience
  • Excellent academic results
  • Understanding of software development methodologies and life cycles
  • Passion for technology and drive to work with intelligent colleagues
  • Willingness to learn and adapt, with a keen interest in challenges of immutable desktop environments
  • Skills in Linux containerization technologies, including kernel namespaces, cgroups, apparmour, and seccomp
  • Skills in Linux desktop environments, including XDG portals, free desktop specifications, systemd, and GRUB
  • Skills in C/C++, Go, Python, and Shell scripting
  • Good communication skills for both internal and external interactions
  • Ability to travel twice a year for company events up to two weeks long
