HVAC Chiller Specialist Role

This is a challenging and rewarding position that requires the installation, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of complex HVAC systems, including large-tonnage chillers, air handling units, and VAVs. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of electro-mechanical systems, control programming, and building management systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, commission, and maintain chiller systems, including air-cooled and water-cooled units, as well as cold storage equipment.
  • Perform diagnostics and repairs on electrical components such as motors, sensors, relays, VFDs, and control panels.
  • Program, calibrate, and troubleshoot HVAC control systems, including BMS, PLCs, or DDC systems.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Conduct regular preventive maintenance to ensure system reliability and efficiency.
  • Maintain logs and documentation of work performed and system status.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and HVAC codes.
  • Collaborate with engineering and IT teams to integrate HVAC systems with automated control platforms.
  • Provide technical support during system upgrades and retrofits.

Required Qualifications:

  • Diploma or Technical Certification in HVAC, Electrical, Mechatronics, or similar field.
  • Minimum 5-8 years of experience in HVAC systems with a focus on chillers and electrical troubleshooting.
  • Working knowledge of chiller control panels, electrical circuits, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), or BMS systems.
  • Ability to use diagnostic tools like multimeters, clamp meters, and field programming devices.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC sequence of operations and electrical safety procedures.
  • Strong knowledge of electro-mechanical troubleshooting and repair.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams and control schematics.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with building management systems (BMS) integration.
  • Basic to intermediate knowledge of PLC ladder logic or DDC programming.
  • Familiarity with energy-efficient HVAC operation and sustainability practices.
  • This role involves working in mechanical rooms, rooftops, and occasionally at heights.
  • May require working in varying temperature conditions.
  • On-call availability for emergency maintenance or troubleshooting.
  • Willingness to travel or be on-call, if required.
