Teaching and assessing English language skills is a rewarding career path that requires dedication and passion. As an English Language Lecturer, you will have the opportunity to teach students from diverse backgrounds and help them develop their language proficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging English language lessons to students on the General Foundation Programme or academic support to UG or PG students.
  • Create and mark assessments for students on the General Foundation Programmes.
  • Provide pastoral care to students through personal tutoring.
  • Perform administrative duties related to teaching, such as assessment, standardisation, moderation, lesson preparation, report writing, and attendance of regular course meetings.
  • Promote the University's vision and values by being an effective ambassador among academics, parents, students, and other ELT professionals in the region.
  • Maintain effective liaison with senior leadership, the Director of General Foundation Programmes, and other members of the General Foundation Programme team.

Requirements:

  • Substantial experience in full-time EFL teaching with some EAP-related teaching experience.
  • Experience in teaching post-graduate students and foundation-level students.
  • Confidence in analysing language and providing constructive feedback on students' spoken and written work.
  • Able to work in a team and individually to teach and assess to agreed criteria.
  • Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Good oral and written presentation skills.
  • Familiarity with IT and its application to teaching, e.g., using a VLE like Moodle and Turnitin.
  • English as a first language or equivalent English language competence, demonstrated by a minimum IELTS certificate of 7.0.
  • Preferably experience in teaching students from the Middle East and/or Arabic learners of English.
  • A strong belief in and commitment to the mission, vision, and values of the institution.
