Diesel Engine Technician

The Diesel Mechanic will play a crucial role in our operations, responsible for the maintenance, repair, and diagnostics of diesel engines and associated equipment.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Perform diagnostics and troubleshooting on diesel engines and heavy equipment. This includes identifying mechanical issues swiftly and accurately.
- Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on excavators, construction equipment, and mining machinery to ensure optimal performance.
- Replace and repair parts such as fuel injectors, pumps, and filters to prevent downtime and extend the lifespan of equipment.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance performed and parts used to track inventory and monitor efficiency.
- Communicate issues and solutions effectively with team members and management to ensure seamless collaboration.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and practices while working on machinery to safeguard both personnel and equipment.
- Assist in training junior mechanics and support team development to foster growth and expertise within the organization.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficient in diesel engine diagnostics and repair techniques to quickly identify and resolve issues.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems in diesel machinery to troubleshoot and repair complex problems.
- Familiarity with hydraulic systems and troubleshooting to optimize equipment performance.
- Experience with welding and fabrication related to equipment repairs to efficiently complete tasks.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics to stay up-to-date with industry developments.
- Required Qualifications:
- A high school diploma or equivalent; a diploma or degree in Diesel Mechanics or a related field is preferred.
- A valid diesel mechanic certification or equivalent accreditation is required.
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience as a diesel mechanic in a professional setting is essential.
- Skills & Experience:
- Experience working with various types of excavators and construction equipment is highly desirable.
- Hands-on experience with mining machineries and their maintenance is valuable.
- Strong troubleshooting skills are necessary to identify mechanical issues swiftly and accurately.
- Knowledge of preventative maintenance best practices and procedures is crucial to ensuring optimal equipment performance.
- Excellent communication skills and team collaboration abilities are vital to effective teamwork and problem-solving.
