We are seeking a highly skilled Equine Veterinary Specialist to join our team at Al Hashar Group.
OverviewThe successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert veterinary care to horses in all aspects of general equine practice. This will include, but not limited to:
- Equine Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation
- Equine Internal Medicine
- Equine Surgery
- Equine Diagnostic Imaging
- Equine Breeding
- Practice Management
The Equine Veterinary Specialist will be expected to perform the following tasks:
Equine Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation- Conduct comprehensive lameness examinations and utilize conventional and regenerative therapies for tendon, ligament, and joint injuries.
- Create customized rehabilitation plans with conventional treatments, controlled exercise, Pulsed Electromagnetic Therapy, Extra-corporeal Shock Wave Therapy, Stretching, and Mesotherapy.
- Perform objective hoof assessments and radiographic-guided therapeutic and routine foot care.
- Evaluate and manage medical-grade colic, equine respiratory and metabolic disorders.
- Perform equine ophthalmology procedures, including direct ophthalmoscopy, broncho-alveolar lavage, microbial culture, and antibiotic sensitivity testing.
- Routine hematological and pathobiological indoor laboratory tests.
- Manage pregnant mares and foal care.
- Administer local analgesia, wound management with conservative and interventional therapies.
- Perform general anesthesia using injectable and gaseous anesthetic agents.
- Perform hernioplasty, valvuloplasty, castration, splint application, enucleation, tenectomy/tenotomy, Sinosotomy, and joint lavage.
- D diagnose and manage laminitis, foot abscesses, and pedal keratomas.
- Reproductive ultrasound and musculoskeletal ultrasound.
- Objective ultrasound examination of equine tendons and ligaments.
- Ultrasound-guided surgical and medical interventions.
- Routine radiology of the musculoskeletal system, abdomen, and other radio-accessible organs.
- Contrast radiography, venography, gastroscopy, laryngoscopy, bronchoscopy, endoscopic guided medical interventions.
- Clinical use of infrared thermal imaging.
- Breeding soundness exam of mare and stallions.
- Artificial insemination with frozen semen using the Deep Horn Technique (DHT).
- Ultrasound-guided evaluation of follicular dynamics.
- Pregnancy diagnosis via trans-rectal and trans-abdominal ultrasonography.
- Uterine lavage and diagnostic uterine cytology.
- Stallion reproductive ultrasonography, semen bank management, maternal and fetal dystocia, retained fetal membranes, and estrous synchronization.
To be successful in this role, you must have:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience as a veterinarian.
- A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree.
- A valid veterinary practice license from the country of origin.
We offer a competitive salary range of $120,000 - $180,000 per year, depending on experience, plus benefits and opportunities for professional growth and development.
