Software Engineering Manager Role Overview

Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Software Engineering Manager to lead our team of remote engineers. As a manager, you will be responsible for developing talent through coaching, mentoring, and hands-on career development.

  • Lead a team of remote engineers
  • Develop talent through coaching, mentoring, and hands-on career development
  • Set and manage expectations with other engineering teams, senior management, and external stakeholders
  • Advocate and advance modern software development practices
  • Participate in the engineering process through code and architectural review
  • Engage with teams at Canonical, the open source community, and partners
Required Skills and Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • Experience leading successful, collaborative engineering teams
  • Deep knowledge of Linux
  • Understanding of modern Linux cloud computing technologies, including networking, storage, containers, and K8s
  • Ability to solve challenging distributed systems problems
  • Strong written and verbal technical communication skills
