The role of an English Language Lecturer involves designing and delivering high-quality English language lessons to students on the General Foundation Programme or academic support to UG or PG students. This position requires a deep understanding of English language pedagogy and the ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and teach comprehensive English language courses to students on the General Foundation Programme or academic support to UG or PG students.
  • Create and administer assessments to evaluate student progress on the General Foundation Programmes.
  • Provide individualised support to students through personal tutoring sessions.
  • Manage administrative tasks related to teaching, including assessment, standardisation, moderation, lesson preparation, report writing, and attendance at regular course meetings.
  • Represent the institution positively among academics, parents, students, and other ELT professionals in the region.
  • Collaborate effectively with senior leadership, the Director of General Foundation Programmes, and other members of the General Foundation Programme team.

Requirements:

  • Significant experience in full-time EFL teaching with some EAP-related teaching experience.
  • Track record of teaching post-graduate students and foundation-level students.
  • Strong analytical skills, enabling the provision of detailed feedback on students' spoken and written work.
  • Able to work collaboratively in a team environment and independently to meet teaching and assessment goals.
  • Adept at managing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both orally and in writing.
  • Familiarity with technology, particularly learning management systems like Moodle and Turnitin.
  • Native English speaker or equivalent language proficiency, supported by a minimum IELTS certificate of 7.0.
  • Desirable: experience teaching students from the Middle East and/or Arabic learners of English.
  • A strong commitment to the institution's mission, vision, and values.
