Job Description:

The Community Accountant is responsible for managing end-to-end financial operations related to community management. This includes maintaining the integrity of financial records, ensuring compliance with statutory regulations, and overseeing the smooth execution of financial operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Accounts Payable & Cost Monitoring
  1. Process and record vendor invoices, ensuring accuracy and completeness of supporting documentation.
  2. Manage timely payments in accordance with contractual terms.
  3. Monitor and analyze cost variances between actual vendor payments and budgeted/contracted amounts.
  4. Prepare and review weekly bank reconciliations for multiple bank accounts.
  5. Investigate discrepancies and coordinate with relevant departments to take corrective action.
  6. Manage and administer the Community Petty Cash account.
  • Service Charges & Revenue Management
  1. Generate quarterly service charge invoices for unit owners based on approved budgets.
  2. Assist in the preparation and posting of month-end and year-end accruals using budgeted and contractual figures.
  3. Prepare and submit monthly financial reports, including accounts receivable and collection updates.
  4. Finalize and maintain books of accounts in accordance with IFRS and local laws.
  5. Coordinate with external auditors during year-end audits: prepare audit schedules, respond to queries, and ensure timely audit closure.
  • VAT & Regulatory Compliance
  1. Accurately compute, document, and file VAT returns in line with local tax laws and submit them to the finance team.
  2. Maintain complete and up-to-date VAT records to support audits or regulatory inspections.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting
  1. Support the management accountant in preparing annual budgets for multiple communities.
  2. Liaise with the customer experience team to review and verify unit owner account statements.
  • Documentation & System Support
  1. Maintain organized and up-to-date financial records both digitally and in physical files.
  2. Assist with system implementations or upgrades, staff training, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Customer Service
  1. Address service charge-related queries from unit owners, ensuring clear, accurate, and professional communication.
  • General Responsibilities
  1. Perform any additional duties reasonably assigned by senior management.
  2. Adhere to policies, procedures, and operational standards at all times.
