About the Job

This role involves ensuring the highest quality standards are met in welding operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in welding processes, techniques, and quality control standards.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Conduct thorough inspections of welded joints, connections, and structures to verify compliance with welding codes, standards, and specifications.
  2. Review isometric drawings for piping and mechanical installations to ensure accuracy and adherence to latest revisions.
  3. Collaborate with fabricators and welders to implement proper welding techniques and maintain quality standards.
  4. Conduct visual, dimensional, and non-destructive testing to assess weld integrity and identify defects.
  5. Maintain accurate records of inspection findings, test results, and certifications.
  6. Generate detailed inspection reports highlighting defects, corrective actions, and compliance status.
  7. Ensure welding materials, consumables, and equipment meet specified standards and requirements.
  8. Implement and enforce safety protocols and regulations to minimize risks and hazards.
  9. Review and approve welding procedures to ensure alignment with industry codes and quality requirements.
  10. Collaborate with engineers and project managers to address welding-related issues and provide recommendations.
  11. Provide guidance to welders and personnel on proper welding techniques, safety practices, and quality control measures.
  12. Identify opportunities for process improvement and share best practices to enhance welding quality and efficiency.
  13. Stay updated on international and local welding codes and standards applicable to the shipping industry.

Requirements

  1. Strong knowledge of welding processes, techniques, and quality control standards.
  2. Ability to conduct work-in-process inspection and coordinate with other agencies as required.
  3. Coordinate third-party inspections at works arranged by clients.
  4. Ensure all fabricated items meet quality control requirements and receive approval from client representatives.

HSE Responsibility

  1. Lead the business unit on HSE.
  2. Participate in regular HSE inspections and enhance safety culture among team members.
  3. Maintain HSE standards for department activities.

Education and Experience

  1. Bachelor's degree or diploma in mechanical engineering with certification as a welding inspector (CSWIP, AWS, or equivalent).
  2. Minimum 5 years of experience in QA/QC welding works for refinery, petrochemical, or oil and gas projects.
