As a senior database professional, you will play a key role in our organization's success. Your expertise will be utilized to design, implement and maintain database systems that operate efficiently and meet our strategic objectives.

The job requires working collaboratively with other IT teams and stakeholders, mentoring and training staff, and managing vendor relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and Implementation: Develop and implement database structures and architectures that align with our business requirements and long-term goals.
  • Disaster Recovery: Plan and execute disaster recovery strategies to ensure critical data is protected and can be quickly recovered in case of a disaster or system failure.
  • Technology Evaluation: Assess and recommend new technologies and tools to improve database performance, scalability and security.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other IT teams and stakeholders to ensure database systems support our strategic objectives.

Operational Requirements:

  • Performance Monitoring: Monitor and diagnose issues to ensure the smooth operation of database systems.
  • Security: Implement and enforce database security policies and procedures to protect sensitive data.
  • Database Management: Create and maintain database backups and archives to prevent data loss.
  • Resource Allocation: Manage database storage and capacity planning to ensure optimal performance.

People Development:

  • Training and Mentoring: Provide training and mentorship to staff on database technologies and best practices.
  • Integration: Collaborate with application developers and other IT teams to integrate database systems with other IT systems and applications.
  • Communication: Communicate with stakeholders to understand their needs and requirements.
  • Vendor Management: Manage vendor relationships and contracts for database-related products and services.

Education and Certifications:

  • Qualifications: A bachelor's degree in computer science or information technology is required. A master's degree in a relevant field is preferred.
  • Certifications: Mandatory certifications include Oracle Certified Professional. Certifications such as Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) and MongoDB Certified DBA are highly desirable.

Experience:

  • Work Experience: 5-7 years of experience working as a DBA in a financial institution or similar environment.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Technical Skills: In-depth knowledge of Oracle19c and above including RAC, Portioning, Encryption and good understanding of SQL Server, SAP-IQ, MongoDB, and others is necessary.
  • Operating Systems: Expert skills working in operating systems environments such as Linux/Unix and Windows servers on VMware and Physical environments.
  • Cluster Management: Thorough understanding of cluster management and failover methods.
  • Communication and Teamwork: Excellent communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and time management skills are essential.
