As an Engineering Manager, you will play a crucial role in driving our engineering organization forward, leading a talented team of engineers who are passionate about developing cutting-edge technologies.



About the Role


  • This is a leadership position within our engineering organization, reporting directly to our [Director of Engineering].
  • As an Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for leading a team of engineers who are passionate about developing machine learning and analytics solutions.
  • Your primary focus will be on delivering high-quality software products that meet the needs of our customers.
  • You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, QA, and DevOps, to ensure seamless collaboration and communication.
  • Additionally, you will identify and measure team health indicators, conduct one-on-one meetings with team members, interact with a vibrant community, and attend conferences to represent Canonical and its MLOps solutions.


Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:




  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in software development, preferably in a leadership role.
  • Proven expertise in programming languages such as Python, C++, or Java.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies, version control systems like Git, and containerization tools like Docker.
  • Strong understanding of software design patterns, architecture, and testing principles.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to mentor and grow your direct reports, helping them achieve their professional goals.
  • The willingness to travel up to 4 times a year for internal events.
