At Canonical, we are seeking a talented Data Engineer to join our team and contribute to the development of cutting-edge IoT solutions. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills and experience in designing and architecting high-performance service APIs, as well as developing robust governance, auditing, and management systems.

This is an exciting opportunity for a software engineer passionate about open source software, Linux, and Web Services at scale. As a member of our engineering team, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to drive high-impact technical solutions that align with business objectives.

The role will be based remotely in the EMEA region, and occasional global travel (2-4 weeks per year) may be required for internal and external events. Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and architect scalable backend services, messaging/data pipelines, and REST APIs using Golang or Python.
  • Develop robust governance, auditing, and management systems within our advanced telemetry platform.
  • Partner with our infrastructure team to build scalable cloud-based SaaS solutions while also delivering containerized on-prem deployments for enterprise customers.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, STEM, or a related field.
  • Deep expertise in cybersecurity principles and experience in addressing complex challenges of IoT environments.
  • Proven expertise in designing and optimizing systems using IAM models, encryption, access control, and compliance frameworks.
  • Ability to design decentralized data ownership models, ensuring interoperability and governance across domains.
  • Familiarity with Ubuntu as a development and deployment platform.
