Job Summary:

The Duty Engineer is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of hotel engineering systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire safety equipment. This role involves timely maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting to provide guests with a safe and comfortable environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and maintain all hotel engineering equipment and systems
  • Respond promptly to emergencies and guest requests to minimize disruption
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance and repairs according to schedules and manufacturers' recommendations
  • Conduct daily rounds and inspections of the hotel premises to identify potential issues and ensure compliance with safety standards
  • Keep accurate logs and reports of maintenance work, incidents, and engineering activities
  • Coordinate with external contractors and vendors for specialized repairs or inspections
  • Ensure compliance with local health, safety, and environmental regulations
  • Assist in managing energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives within the hotel
  • Provide technical support to other hotel departments as needed
Requirements:
  • Proven experience as a Duty Engineer or in a similar engineering/maintenance role within a hotel or commercial facility
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and manuals
  • Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Flexibility to work in shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Relevant technical certification or diploma preferred
  • Basic computer skills for maintenance management systems and reporting
