The laser technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe and effective operation of laser equipment in medical, cosmetic, or industrial procedures. This position requires a high level of technical expertise, as well as strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Laser Equipment Operation
    • Set up and operate laser equipment according to procedure specifications and safety protocols.
    • Assist physicians or specialists during laser treatments (e.g., hair removal, tattoo removal, skin resurfacing, eye surgery).
    • Calibrate lasers to ensure optimal performance and minimize risks.
    • Monitor laser output and make real-time adjustments to maintain patient comfort and safety.
  • Patient Preparation and Safety
    • Explain procedures and safety measures to patients or clients, addressing any concerns or questions they may have.
    • Prepare the treatment area, applying protective measures (e.g., goggles, shields) as necessary.
    • Position patients comfortably and ensure their safety throughout the procedure.
  • Equipment Maintenance and Compliance
    • Clean, inspect, and maintain laser equipment regularly to prevent malfunctions and ensure compliance with manufacturer guidelines and facility protocols.
    • Troubleshoot equipment issues promptly, reporting them to management as needed.
    • Maintain accurate treatment logs and patient records, documenting laser settings, treatment areas, and outcomes.
  • Continuing Education and Training
    • Stay updated on industry standards, certifications, and safety regulations, attending training sessions and pursuing continuing education as required.
    • Adhere to local and national laser safety codes (e.g., ANSI Z136 standards), ensuring a culture of safety within the organization.
