Reporting to: Chief Investment Officer - Private Markets
JOB PURPOSE:
To direct and lead the private Markets investment portfolio through strategy development, business development/ opportunities identification, deal execution, value creation and exit management strategy in order to optimize the financial return of the directorate.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage the development of the Private Markets directorate's strategy as cascaded down from the company strategy and oversee its implementation throughout the function and its operations, to ensure vertical alignment and horizontal integration with other interfacing functional strategies across OIA.
- Manage the Private Markets directorate's team of direct and indirect reports through effective recruitment, development, performance management, and succession planning, in order to maximize team performance and achieve departmental objectives.
- Manage the Private Markets directorate's daily operations by providing expertise, enabling teamwork, and aligning processes, in order to achieve high performance standards and meet established targets.
- Manage the development and consolidation of the Private Markets directorate's budget and monitor its financial performance versus the budget, to ensure the exercising of financial authority within established limits and the control of the directorate's budget expenditure.
- Lead the identification of new potential business opportunities in Private Markets and manage their evaluation against the business strategy from a strategic, commercial, financial, operational and technical perspective to enable an informed decision-making process with the concerned stakeholders.
- Lead Private Markets negotiations and transaction closing process including appropriate legal documentation to ensure that the commercial intention of the transaction is appropriately reflected in the legal documents and consequently minimize risks.
- Lead Private Markets portfolio performance monitoring to ensure alignment with original business plans and keep key stakeholders informed on an ongoing basis.
- Lead effective governance of the Private Markets portfolio through continuous engagement with OIA's designated representatives on the board to maintain an effective asset management.
- Lead the Identification and implementation of Private Markets value creation initiatives to ensure sustainability of the investment.
- Lead the identification and execution of suitable monetization opportunities for the Private Markets portfolio to enhance its value.
- Ensure market awareness and seek to identify the appropriate investment and operational opportunities to develop and maintain relevant business networks/relationship.
- Strong relationship with institutional investors, investment banks and financial advisors.
- Ensure to have continuous evaluation in place and report on investment performance and risk levels in coordination with relevant Committees and other functions to keep all the concerned parties informed regarding investments in the Private Markets.
- Lead the proper execution of due diligence studies to assist OIA's management in making well-informed decisions.
- Liaise with OIA Committees and other related entities to ensure compliance with internal regulations.
- Ensure all the technological needs of the Private Markets directorate are identified and enabled to improve the related business processes and make the team's tasks more efficient and effective.
- Direct the development, implementation, and communication of the Private Markets directorate's policies and procedures, to ensure that all relevant procedural and legislative requirements are clearly communicated and duly fulfilled.
- Direct the Private Markets directorate's compliance to all relevant health, safety, and quality requirements, in order to guarantee employee safety and legislative compliance.
- Direct the Private Markets directorate's contribution to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement of systems, processes and practices taking into account 'leading best practices', improvement of business processes, cost reduction and productivity improvement.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree specialization in Finance, Business Management, Economics, Accounting, or any other relevant field
- Master's degree is a plus
- CFA, CMA, CPA, FMVA, FRM
- 16 to 18 years of relevant experience with minimum 4 years in a managerial role
- Fluency in English is essential
- Fluency in Arabic is advantageous
- Proficiency in MS Office is essential (especially Excel and PowerPoint)
- Experience with business related software is desirable
