Position Title: Planning Assistant

Department: Planning & Projects Control

Reporting To: Senior Planner

Location: Muscat, Oman

Role Purpose

The Planning Assistant will support the Senior Planner in preparing, monitoring, and updating project schedules, progress reports, and planning deliverables. The role involves assisting in data collection, analysis, and coordination with project teams to ensure timely execution of projects in line with Al Arkans quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist the Senior Planner in developing, updating, and monitoring project schedules using Primavera P6/MS Project.

• Collect site progress data and update project schedules accordingly.

• Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports for management and clients.

• Support in preparing manpower, material, and equipment histograms.

• Maintain records of project baselines, revisions, and extensions of time (EOT) claims.

• Coordinate with site engineers, project managers, and QS team for accurate planning data.

• Assist in monitoring subcontractor schedules and ensuring alignment with project timelines.

• Support in risk analysis, resource allocation, and cash flow projections.

• Provide administrative and technical assistance in planning documentation, reports, and presentations.

Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelors degree in civil engineering / construction management (preferred).

• 24 years of experience in construction planning and project control.

• Familiarity with Primavera P6 (preferred) or MS Project.

• Strong analytical and numerical skills.

• Good understanding of construction processes, planning concepts, and resource management.

• Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

• Strong communication and coordination skills.
