Automation Engineer

This role contributes to the automation and cognitive running of Technology Operations of Vodafone Oman. It includes:

• As part of the OSS Automation and AI team creating a next generation OSS stack to enable Technology Operations
• Take part ownership in creating a standardised automation process for automation and robotics
• Contribute to a standardised architecture for integrating OSS elements, big data and data elements to enable future Cognitive and Machine Learning techniques.
• Develop RPA and automations to make processes more efficient and accurate.
• Use data driven analysis to proactively, reactively and automatically run first- and second-line operations tasks
• Working closely with the vendor partners to deliver on our target of maximising automation within the Network and IT environment
• Ensure we have the right dashboards and reports to make informed decisions

Key accountabilities and decision ownership:

• Contribute to the development and implementation of current and new product using software development best practices
• Development of architectures associated to the OSS stack
• Development of processes associated to Operations, RPAs and automations
• Where necessary execute operational vendor and supplier engagements for service delivery
• Ensuring agreed SLAs and KPIs are met in respective area of responsibility.
• Understanding of CI/CD

Core competencies, knowledge and experience:

• Translates data into insights that identify opportunities and highlights threats to the business.
• Be able to working independently and must have prior knowledge on how to manage, escalate and resolve telecom and IT technology issues in a management service context.
• Uses Data mining to understand trends and use business models to give insights into the findings
• RPA and automation techniques
• OSS tooling, architectures and strategies.
• Programming language expected Rust ,Python, Flutter , Typescript/Javascript
• Database relational and non-relational databases
• Knowledge on Kubernetes preferable RedHat OCP
• Good working knowledge big data, machine learning and cognitive architecture, strategies and techniques
• Agile and DevOps techniques and ways of working
• Good working understanding of automation, robotics and cognitive operations
• Architecture and process development expertise

Key performance indicators:

• Development of RPAs, Automations
• Development and implementation of associated processes, integrations and architectures.
• Compliance to ITIL, ETOM processes and agile ways of working.
• Utilisation of automation, robotics and correlation in day-to-day front office functions.
• Maintains and updates documentation relating to services offered
• Provide reports, statistics and KPI dashboards as per agreed timelines and scope.

Must have technical / professional qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or information technology from a recognized university or equivalent
• At least 2 years work experience in similar technology operations telecommunication environments or similar DevOps environments.
• Experience in software development or other tools used in automation and RPA development.
• Experience in OSS tooling, architectures and strategies.
• Experience in Operations processes and standards (e.g ITIL/eTOM etc).
• Experience in automation by analysis of various core trends and data from interfacing systems
