Roles & Responsibilities


• Design course curriculum materials for English language lessons


• Plan, deliver and evaluate these lessons in a clear and appropriate manner


• Prepare, mark and provide feedback for examinations


• Engage students in assignments and activities


• Participate in the work of professional organizations in the field

· Able to create an excellent climate for learning within teaching area
• Able to use a range of strategies to promote learning
• Able to manage and encourage good behaviour


• Able to make use of an understanding of ICT to develop teaching resources as well as to enrich the curriculum


• Understanding of how to use data to inform planning and improve students' performance

· A good concept of recent curriculum changes

Technical/Work based Skills This relates to the skills specific to the job, e.g. language fluency, typing skills, etc.

Qualification and Experience


• BA (in a relevant subject and taught and assessed in English) and a qualification in English Language Teaching (ELT) (e.g. CELTA, Trinity TEFL certificate), or
• A Master's degree (in a relevant subject and taught and assessed in English)
•


• Evidence of further personal and professional development

Knowledge This relates to the level and breadth of knowledge required to do the job, e.g. an understanding of a defined system, practice, method or procedure.


• Experiences should be in Higher Education Institutions or Public Education Institutions (in the postbasic grades)
• A secure knowledge and understanding of the concepts and skills essential to success for students in English
• A secure knowledge of assessment for learning strategies
