Role Overview

The Senior Process Engineer – Pelletising will lead and optimise process activities in the pelletising plant to ensure efficient, safe, and cost-effective operations. The role focuses on improving balling performance, implementing best practices, and driving process innovation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the balling process performance, including mixing and pellet formation.
  • Use Optimisation Control Systems (OCS) and simulations to enhance efficiency.
  • Analyse KPIs and process data to identify opportunities for improvement in throughput, quality, and energy use.
  • Lead troubleshooting during process upsets, start-ups, and shutdowns.
  • Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and quality teams to ensure smooth production.
  • Implement process control and automation improvements.
  • Lead root cause analysis (RCA) for process incidents and deviations.
  • Prepare technical reports, mass and energy balances, and process documentation.
  • Participate in project evaluations, investment analyses, and cost studies.
  • Supervise and mentor junior engineers and trainees.
  • Ensure compliance with HSE standards and sustainability objectives.
  • Support R&D initiatives to develop new methods and technologies in pelletising.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's in
    Chemical or Process Engineering
    (or related field).
  • 8–10 years
    of process engineering experience, ideally in
    iron ore pelletising (balling process)
    .
  • Strong knowledge of unit operations:
    mixing, balling, and induration
    .
  • Skilled in data analysis (Excel, PI, Power BI, KNIME, FLASH Process).
  • Familiarity with
    DCS systems
    and process control logic.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Language:
    English
    (required).
