Job Purpose:

The MEP Estimation Engineer is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for complete Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) works, including HVAC systems. The role involves analyzing project documents, performing quantity take-offs, obtaining supplier quotations, and contributing to competitive and technically compliant proposals for various types of construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Study and interpret tender drawings, specifications, and project requirements across mechanical (HVAC, plumbing, drainage, fire fighting), electrical (power, lighting, ELV), and related MEP systems.
  • Perform detailed quantity take-offs and prepare BOQs for all MEP components.
  • Estimate material, labor, and equipment costs using up-to-date market data and engineering judgment.
  • Review and compare technical and commercial offers from vendors and subcontractors.
  • Ensure all estimates are accurate, competitive, and aligned with applicable standards and client requirements.
  • Prepare cost summaries, pricing sheets, technical clarifications, and documentation for bid submissions.
  • Identify discrepancies, scope gaps, and value engineering opportunities during the estimation process.
  • Work closely with design, procurement, and project management teams to validate assumptions and refine cost projections.
  • Maintain and update a database of MEP materials, labor rates, productivity norms, and historical cost data.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and clarification sessions with clients or consultants when required.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or related field).
  • 3–7 years of experience in MEP estimation, including HVAC, plumbing, fire fighting, and electrical systems.
  • Solid understanding of international codes and standards.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with pricing and tender templates.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications across all MEP disciplines.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines.
