Enforce the health and safety procedures of the Facility and develop related documentation. Conduct operational checks and report to the supervisor of QC. Ensure compliance with relevant standards, including corrective and preventive measures.

Areas of ResponsibilitiesSafety Officer
  • Conduct pre-operational risk assessments in the facility campus and prepare necessary mitigation plans based on the assessed risks.
  • Ensure HSE controls are in place and conduct periodic audits.
  • Maintain and update safety plans for emergency procedures.
  • Prepare HSE improvement proposals, corrective actions, and implementation plans.
  • Ensure the facility meets all relevant national HSE regulations, including Oman labor law.
  • Conduct periodic site inspections and report safety concerns.
  • Investigate accidents or near misses, and recommend corrective actions to the supervisor of QC.
  • Conduct mock drills, firefighting, and emergency first aid exercises to ensure preparedness.
  • Ensure firefighting equipment is operational and properly maintained.
  • Generate reports and maintain checklists related to Health and Safety.
  • Communicate HSE messages and emergency notifications.
  • Conduct workshops, training, and awareness sessions related to HSE.
  • Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of the role.
Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance
  • Ensure all staff, contractors, and visitors observe HSE safety procedures.
  • Follow laboratory safety procedures, ensuring safe handling of chemicals and biological materials.
  • Promote adherence to occupational health, safety regulations, and environmental standards.
Minimum Education

The role requires a bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety with 3 to 5 years of experience or a diploma with at least 4 years of experience.

Experience
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in the field.
  • Experience delivering safety training and awareness programs.
  • Familiarity with local and international HSE regulations.
  • NEBOSH certification is preferred.
  • Strong background in preparing HSE reports and documentation for inspections and audits.
Skills & Knowledge
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Good communication and administrative skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability to work long hours if needed.
Business Understanding
  • Understand operational processes and workplace risks.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
  • Align HSE practices with business goals and productivity.
