Role Statement

The Unit Head of Corporate Liabilities is responsible for developing and executing strategies to increase corporate deposits, expand the client portfolio, and maximize profitability for the bank. This role includes managing client relationships, driving business growth, innovating liability products, and leading the corporate liabilities team. The successful candidate will be accountable for meeting the bank's corporate liabilities targets while ensuring regulatory compliance and optimizing risk management.

Principal Responsibilities

Business Growth & Development
  • Increase Corporate Deposits: Develop strategies to attract and retain large corporate clients, boosting the overall deposit base.
  • Expand Client Portfolio: Secure successful conversion of corporate clients in defined markets, focusing on key industries and potential customers.
  • Cross-Selling Opportunities: Cross-sell bank products and services such as POS, retail, and insurance.
  • Contribute to Business Plan Development: Play a role in shaping the bank's overall business plan by servicing and enhancing existing business relationships.
Liability and Cash Management
  • Monitor and Market Products: Expand the bank's deposit customer base by promoting liability and cash management products, with a focus on cost-effective, funding cost-reducing solutions.
  • Product Innovation: Develop and promote innovative liability products to attract more corporate deposits and retain key clients.
Client Relationship Management
  • Manage Existing Accounts: Maintain strong relationships with current portfolio customers, ensuring account 'stickiness' and maximizing profitability within the bank's credit policy.
  • Build New Relationships: Establish account relationships with new customers interested in both borrowing and non-borrowing solutions.
  • Strengthen Key Relationships: Meet with current and potential key bank customers to foster long-term, profitable relationships.
Profitability & Efficiency
  • Secure Sales: Achieve sales in line with the business plan, ensuring the bank's corporate liabilities targets are met.
  • Maximize Profitability: Improve account profitability while optimizing the cost structure and reducing funding costs.
Risk Management & Compliance
  • Monitor Risks: Identify high-risk situations early, taking proactive measures for handling and recovery.
  • Ensure Regulatory Compliance: Adhere to all relevant regulations, especially in KYC and AML practices.
Market Competitiveness
  • Market Analysis: Continuously monitor market trends and adjust strategies to maintain competitiveness.
  • Positive Market Representation: Ensure the bank is positively represented in the market to build credibility and attract clients.
Reporting & Performance Tracking
  • Track Key Metrics: Regularly review performance indicators such as deposit growth, profitability, and new client acquisition.
  • Strategic Reporting: Provide detailed reports to senior management on the growth and performance of the corporate liabilities division.
Team Leadership & Development
  • Manage & Motivate the Team: Lead, mentor, and develop the corporate liabilities team to meet targets.
  • Training & Skills Development: Ensure team members are continuously improving their knowledge of bank products and relationship management.
Candidate Specifications
  • University degree in Business / Finance / Economics, etc.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in banking sector.
  • Experience in corporate deposits, cash management, and liquidity solutions.
  • Corporate/Wholesale Banking: Deep experience with corporate accounts and large deposits.
  • Treasury and Cash Management: Expertise in liquidity and cash flow solutions.
  • Compliance Knowledge: Familiar with Oman's AML and KYC standards.
  • Client Relationship Management: Proven success with high-value Omani corporate clients.
  • Risk and Compliance: Strong understanding of regulatory compliance in Oman and GCC.
  • Leadership & Strategic Planning: Experience in managing teams and setting strategic goals.
  • Portfolio Management: Skilled in handling large corporate liability portfolios.
  • Product Innovation: Ability to customize products, with a focus on digital banking solutions.
  • Analytical Skills: Proficient in financial data analysis for optimal portfolio performance.
