Job Description
- Report for duty punctually, wearing the correct uniform and name badge at all times.
- Coordinate with the Chef de Partie to organize the shift on your section regarding mise-en-place, production, and service.
- Take orders from the Chef de Partie and execute them properly.
- Assist the Chef de Partie in writing daily wine, dry store, food requisitions, and kitchen transfers for approval by the Executive Chef / Executive Sous Chef to ensure high stock rotation.
- Maintain good employee relations and motivate colleagues.
- Follow specifications received from the Chef de Partie regarding portion size, quantity, and quality as per the recipe index.
- Complete daily checklists related to mise-en-place and food storage.
- Attend daily and monthly meetings with the Chef de Cuisine and other relevant meetings as requested.
- Report machinery and equipment failures to the Chef de Cuisine and follow up on repairs.
- Check the main information board for updates on banquets or organizational changes.
- Keep the section clean and organized.
- Pass all relevant information to the next shift.
- Record accidents and sickness in the logbook and report to the Executive Chef / Executive Sous Chef.
- Supervise Commis Chefs on your section, including personal hygiene standards.
- Assist in developing new recipes and menu ideas.
- Adhere to company policies on fire safety, hygiene, and safety.
- This description is not exhaustive; other tasks of a similar nature may be assigned as needed.
- Diploma or certification from a recognized culinary school.
- At least 2 years of culinary experience in a hotel kitchen.
- Excellent customer service, teamwork, interpersonal, communication, multitasking, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Accountable, reliable, energetic, creative, and flexible.
- Ability to work efficiently in a team under pressure in a multicultural environment.
- Basic computer skills; knowledge of MS Office is an asset.
