This role will be to support the business by contributing to the strategic understanding and positioning of the business on regulatory and wholesale affairs. The candidate will also be expected to lead on discussions, submissions and interactions with operators, wholesale suppliers and the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority on a range of matters.

Key accountabilities and decision ownership:

  • Develop and implement strategies to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure necessary documentation is completed and submitted.
  • Develops constructive relationships and leads the business on competition, policy and wholesale matters with the TRA.
  • Contribute to the development and formulation of Vodafone corporate strategy to ensure that regulatory affairs-related matters are considered and appropriately reflected.
  • Provide input into the preparation of responses on TRA consultation papers on various subjects and issues
  • Ensure full compliance with the obligations set out in the Licences, Regulations and Laws.
  • Develop an Anti-Competitive Strategy against the dominant operators.
  • Provide weekly update on the regulatory matters to the management.
  • Raise awareness internally on the adherence to the TRA regulations
  • Provide plans to reduce the financial burden on the company that result from the TRA Fees.
  • Being the SPOC with TRA on all core matters that relate to competition, economics, and non-technical matters.

Core competencies, knowledge and experience:

  • Relevant experience in the telecom industry.
  • 10+ years substantial experience in regulation and dealing with regulatory authorities.
  • Substantial experience in stakeholder management at senior level, presenting to stakeholders, managing complex stakeholder relationships.
  • Start-up experience in setting up a new company/operator is highly desirable.
  • Advanced knowledge of national and international telecom industry

Key Performance Indicators:

  • Regulation compliance strategy in place.
  • Engage positively with the TRA and other stakeholders and participate in consultation conducted by the TRA.
  • Monitor and observe the market dynamics that may impact Vodafone position in the market.
  • Improve Vodafone competitive position in the market & Influence TRA on decision in Favor to Vodafone.

Must have technical / professional qualifications:

  • University degree.
  • Business Economics or Legal background.
