Duty Engineer

The Duty Engineer is responsible for the daily operation of the engineering department and for ensuring that the department is operated in the safest and most efficient manner. The Duty Engineer will assume the responsibilities of the ACE/ADOE during his absence.

• General:
• Understand and disseminate/communicate all corporate and hotel policies and standard operating procedures to the colleagues.
• Comply with MOHG Code of Conduct and ensure all business activities and decisions comply with the law and regulations.
• Support all aspects of the Mandarin Oriental, Muscat Human Resources Strategic Policy.
• Fully support all learning and development activities, including:
  • On The Job trainers and trainings.
  • Group Training Technique trainers and trainings.
  • Update and maintain a complete Training Matrix for your department.
  • Update and maintain Job Description and Job Specification Matrix for your department.
• Ensure colleagues' career path and development needs are prioritized and documented in accordance with the MO Profile online system.
• Hold monthly meetings with all colleagues to provide a forum for voicing concerns and sharing departmental and hotel information.
• Safeguard stored information and not divulge personal data unless authorized.
• Adhere to policies & procedures relating to Safe, Sound and Sustainable at Mandarin Oriental.
• Ensure compliance with the MOHG social media Policy.
• Maintain zero tolerance on all forms of harassment or discrimination.
• Carry out any additional duties requested by management, related to hotel operational activities.
• Follow the principle of the 5Ps 'Proper Planning Prevents Poor Performance' at all times.

• Maintain proper and safe condition of all Plant, Plant Rooms, Equipment and Work areas.
• Comply with all Fire, Life, Health, and Safety Standards.
• Be conversant with the Hotel Emergency Procedures.
• Perform Emergency Response Team duties as required.
• Maintain personal presentation in a clean, neat, and tidy manner.
• Be courteous and professional when dealing with Guests and fellow Staff Members.
• Assist Guests, Patrons, and Fellow Staff Members as appropriate.
• Undertake specific duties and projects when assigned.
• Support Training Programs.
• Carry out work in accordance with The Hotel Planned Maintenance Program.
• Familiarize with the technical details of all Plant and Services relating to the Hotel.
• Work shifts as designated.
• Maintain, repair, check and record equipment relating to:
  • Guest Facilities
  • Public area and heart of the house facilities
  • Air Conditioning Equipment
  • Fire, Life, Health, and Safety
  • Electrical and Mechanical Services
  • Plumbing and Heating
  • Entertainment Equipment
  • Furniture, Fittings and General Equipment
• Actively supervise and support the Shift Technician.
• Ensure all logbooks and records are kept up to date.
• Assist Engineering personnel with technical advice and ensure standards are maintained.
• Deputize for ADOE/ACE in their absence.
• Assist with Energy Conservation and Control.
• Responsible for the entire shift operations ensuring all technical support.
