Job Responsibilities
  1. Carry out routine testing of existing LV & HV protection relays and switchgear according to maintenance strategy.
  2. Provide technical support for testing and commissioning of new relays as required.
  3. Participate in fault diagnosis and troubleshooting activities for protection relays / switchgear.
  4. Collaborate with other engineers and technical staff to implement protection strategies.
  5. Develop and maintain documentation related to protection systems.
  6. Provide on-the-job training to OLNG team as per plan.
  7. Participate in the planning and execution of system upgrades and improvements.
  8. Schedule testing plans for all relays in the plant as per maintenance strategy and ensure timely execution.
  9. Update protection relays setting database and maintain the latest relay backups on OLNG laptops.
  10. Contribute to establishing a culture of technical transparency through personal involvement and coaching at all levels.
Goals

Minimize mean time to repair failures and maximize mean time between failures of electrical protection equipment.

Requirements

Education:

Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 12 years in the Oil and Gas Industry, with at least 8 years as a protection engineer.
  • Previous experience in power plants is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of electrical safety rules, switching programs, and PTW regulations.
  • Experience in inspection and testing of LV & HV switchgear AIS & GIS.
  • Proficiency with relays & switchgear testing equipment such as CMC356, Fluke power analyser, and CPC100.
  • Experience testing protection relays & breakers trip units (ABB, Siemens, Eaton, GEC, Alstom, Schneider, Terasaki, SI motor manager) such as RET, REF, REM, REG, 7UM, 7UT, 7SJ, 7SK, 7RW, 7SD, MCGG, MICOM, 1150I.
  • Experience with protection coordination software & relay software (ETAP/Digsilent, DIGSI, PCM, Test Universe, etc.).
  • Good team player with strong communication skills in English.
  • Ability to mentor and coach electrical technicians and engineers in protection relay testing basics.

Knowledge of ERP systems and office applications.
