Job Title: Senior Estimator

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing, evaluating and assessing information necessary to construct projects on time, within budget and to the quality specified by contract documents.

This role is ideal for a highly organized individual with excellent communication skills and experience in estimating commercial, institutional and industrial building projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct site investigations to inform project estimates;
  • Perform quantity/material takeoffs to ensure accurate costing;
  • Review and check estimates for extensions, accuracy and errors;
  • Prepare estimate schedules for tendering reviews;
  • Develop and manage project budgets and costs;
  • Coordinate with sub-trades and suppliers to obtain quotations;
  • Participate in tender closings and compile successful and unsuccessful tenders;
  • Maintain unit price and productivity knowledge and database;
  • Other duties as required.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Quantity Survey or equivalent;
  • A minimum of 5-10 years' experience in estimating commercial, institutional and/or industrial buildings;
  • Proven knowledge of estimating and costing of structural concrete and structural steel building systems;
  • Experience with estimating projects ranging from $5 million to $50 million;
  • Ability to perform conceptual estimating based on written or verbal instructions;
  • Proficiency in on-screen take-off software;
  • Advanced knowledge of sub-contractor work scopes, estimating techniques and costing;
  • Knowledge of MS Project and/or Primavera P6 Scheduling software;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Possession of a Post-Secondary Construction Engineering Technology School graduate or BSc Degree in Quantity Survey.
