About the Role

Mashreq is seeking an experienced Assistant Manager to join its team in Oman. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the finance, administration, procurement, and treasury functions of the Oman branch.

The role involves maintaining the branch's books of account, providing insights into business partnering, and preparing regulatory returns, management accounts, and other ad-hoc materials.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Prepare journal entries to account for transactions within the branch in accordance with finance SOPs.
  2. Prepare regulatory returns for CBO and CBUAE for review and submission by the Oman Country Finance manager.
  3. Prepare management accounts, ALCO pack, and other ad-hoc materials for day-to-day evaluation of the Oman country business and finance function.
  4. Assist in providing information to tax consultants for VAT and corporate income tax-related filings for the branch.
  5. Prepare annual budgets, periodic forecasts, and other requirements from HO.
  6. Carry out user acceptance tests (UAT) for implementation of new systems such as ERP and Core banking.
  7. Assist the Oman Finance manager in managing admin and procurement functions of the branch.

Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and experience:

  1. Qualified accountant with 3-5 years of experience.
  2. Sound knowledge of accounting regulations, tax laws, and banking regulations.
  3. Deep understanding of standard banking systems, processes, and procedures.
  4. Highly analytical and logical thinking, sound verbal and written communication/presentation skills.
  5. Prior experience in core banking implementation is an added advantage.
