HSE Officer - Safeguarding Workplace Wellbeing

Ensure a safe and healthy work environment by implementing Health, Safety, and Environmental policies. This critical role promotes compliance with regulations, fosters a culture of safety awareness, and minimizes risks to employees and the environment.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Compliance & Regulatory Adherence:
    • Develop, implement, and maintain HSE policies, procedures, and systems in line with legal and industry standards.
    • Ensure compliance with applicable GMP.
    • Maintain awareness of industry-specific regulations.
    • Conduct regular risk assessments, hazard identifications, and job safety analyses (JSA).
    • Recommend and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to reduce or eliminate risks.
    • Investigate incidents, near misses, and accidents, and implement corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
    • Prepare detailed reports and root cause analyses (RCA).
  • Monitoring & Reporting:
    • Track and report key HSE metrics such as Lost Time Injury Frequency Rate (LTIFR), Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR), environmental emissions, and waste generation.
    • Maintain logs for inspections, permits, audits, and compliance checklists.
    • Prepare reports required by authorities.
    • Develop and test emergency response plans.
    • Ensure readiness of emergency equipment.
    • Monitor and manage waste disposal, emissions, water usage, and other environmental impacts.
  • Safety Inspections & Audits:
    • Conduct routine site inspections and audits to ensure safe working conditions.
    • Identify non-conformities and ensure timely resolution.
  • PPE & Safety Equipment Oversight:
    • Ensure proper use, availability, and maintenance of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
    • Evaluate and approve new safety gear based on risk assessments.
  • Cross-functional Coordination:
    • Work closely with operations, HR, engineering, and other departments to integrate HSE best practices across the organization.
    • Coordinate with external auditors and authorities during inspections.
    • Deliver or coordinate HSE training programs.
    • Promote ongoing safety awareness campaigns and toolbox talks.
Requirements:
  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or related field.
    • Certification in NEBOSH / IOSH / OSHA / First Aid / Fire Safety.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 1 year of experience in an HSE role, preferably in an industrial environment.
    • Knowledge of OSHA, NEBOSH, ISO standards, or local regulatory requirements.
