This is an opportunity to start a new career in technical support with a leading provider of open source software and operating systems. As a Desktop Support Associate, you will work from our office in London and be accountable for delivering excellent technical support to employees and customers, as well as facilitating AV support for conferences and events.

Your role will involve owning and managing cases from problem qualification to full resolution, collaborating with colleagues or involving senior engineers when necessary. You will also be responsible for providing technical expertise, effective communication, and a service-oriented approach to deliver high customer satisfaction.

The Key Responsibilities

  • Investigate customer-reported issues through research and escalation.
  • Resolve complex problems related to our products.
  • Owning support cases to meet Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Engage directly with customers via phone, ticketing, and remote sessions.
  • Participate in a weekend support rotation.
  • Contribute to and maintain knowledge base articles.
  • Understand Ubuntu development to set realistic customer expectations.

What We're Looking For

  • Excellent written and spoken English, with strong presentation skills.
  • Outstanding academic record from high school through university.
  • Degree in a technical field or a compelling alternative narrative.
  • Proven track record of exceeding expectations.
  • Experience with Linux troubleshooting, logs, and configuration editing.
  • Familiarity with Linux integration with other systems (authentication, network file systems, etc.).
  • Ability to analyze logs and stack traces effectively.
  • Quick learner, adaptable, and able to handle customer-facing pressure.
  • Basic programming skills.
  • Willingness to travel internationally for company events and meetings.
  • Extensive customer support experience, with a focus on professional communication and expectation management.
