Software Engineering Manager Position

We are looking for an experienced software engineering manager to lead our team and help us deliver high-quality software. The successful candidate will have a solid technical background and experience in leading successful teams.

The role entails:

  • Leading a team of remote engineers
  • Developing talent through coaching, mentoring, feedback, and hands-on career development
  • Setting and managing expectations with other engineering teams, senior management, and external stakeholders
  • Advocating and advancing modern software development practices
  • Participating in the engineering process through code and architectural review
  • Engaging with teams at Canonical, the open source community, and partners
  • Working from home with global travel for 4-6 weeks per year for internal and external events

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Love developing and growing people, with a strong track record of doing it
  • Focused on success and delivery of timely, high-quality software
  • Bachelor's or equivalent degree in Computer Science, STEM, or similar field
  • Strong written and verbal technical communication skills
  • Expertise in modern C++ development
  • Cross-platform development experience on macOS and/or Windows
  • Knowledge of hypervisor technologies such as Hyper-V, VirtualBox, and KVM
  • Open source experience and involvement
