Senior Finance Leader

OQ Exploration & Production is a leading energy company seeking an experienced Senior Finance Leader to oversee its financial services function.

This strategic business partner role requires a strong understanding of economic and forecasting modeling aspects, as well as corporate governance.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Financial Controlling: Direct and oversee the financial controlling process for OQEP, ensuring an adequate control structure is in place for financial success.
  • Treasury: Direct and oversee the treasury function to ensure OQEP has adequate funding for short, medium, and long-term cash requirements.
  • Budgets and Plans: Direct and oversee the preparation and consolidation of OQEP budgets and monitor financial performance versus budget.
  • Collaboration with CFO: Collaborate on short and long-term strategies for the Business by providing financial insight and translating it into business plans.
  • Transaction Authorization: Authorize transactions proposed by OQEP within set governance protocols upon analysis of merits.
  • Resource Management: Ensure OQEP has necessary resources (financing, cash, risk mitigation) to conduct business effectively.
  • Performance Monitoring: Monitor and analyze OQEP business performance and recommend measures for improvement.
  • Stakeholder Relationships: Develop and enhance relationships with key stakeholders as authority and strategic adviser on financial matters.
  • Organizational Structure: Define an optimum organization structure for the Finance function at OQEP.
  • Manual of Authorities: Oversee the development of the Manual of Authorities and delegation of financial responsibility at OQEP.
  • External Coordination: Coordinate with various ministries and government entities regarding operational and financial matters.
  • Business Relationships: Establish and maintain effective working relationships with key external entities such as Banks and Investment institutions.
  • Financial IT Systems: Direct the implementation of all financial IT systems.
  • Processes and Procedures: Oversee the implementation of functional policies, systems, processes, procedures, and controls.
  • Change Management: Direct and oversee the change management process considering international best practices.
  • MIS and Reports: Ensure that all functional reports comply with corporate governance principles and OQ policies.

Requirements:

  • Education: Graduate in Finance, Accounting, Economics or equivalent – Required | Postgraduate (CIMA, CA, CFA or MBA) is preferred.
  • Language: Excellent knowledge of written, read, and spoken English (required).
  • Background and Experience: 14+ years of finance role and operations experience; 5+ years in a senior management role with business partnering exposure.

Competencies and Skills:

  • In-depth understanding of the economics of the oil and gas / energy industry.
  • Knowledge of regulatory environment in all jurisdictions where OQ operates.
  • Progressively responsible experience for a major company or division of a large corporation.
  • Excellent communication skills, particularly in presenting analysis results to management.
  • Outstanding knowledge of electronic spreadsheets.
  • Knowledge of Capital Markets / Project Finance / Banking.

Soft Skills:

  • Demonstrated leadership to develop high performing teams.
  • Capable of inspiring and leading change.
  • Ability to influence internal and external stakeholders.

Technical Skills:

  • Computer Literacy including MS Office.
  • Advanced business and financial analytical skills.
  • Ability to conduct financial and business negotiations.

Salary: Estimated salary range: $150,000 - $250,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
