As a Software Engineer on our Core Desktop team, you will be responsible for designing and developing key elements of the desktop, including Linux container technologies such as kernel namespaces, cgroups, apparmour, seccomp, and more.

About the Role
  • Design and Develop: Elements of the Core Desktop, focusing on defensive and performant coding practices.
  • Write High-Quality Code: For millions of demanding daily users.
  • Collaborate with Team Members: To understand the intricacies of immutable desktops, participate in code reviews, and engage with the community for user feedback and insights.
Your Day-to-Day
  • Troubleshoot and resolve user-reported issues, gaining experience in debugging and problem-solving.
  • Contribute to documentation to aid in your learning and that of future team members.
  • Participate in regular team meetings to discuss progress, challenges, and upcoming development sprints.
We're Looking for Someone Who:
  • Has outstanding academic results and an undergraduate degree in a technical subject or an alternative chosen path.
  • Understands software development methodologies and life cycles.
  • Is passionate about technology and driven to work with intelligent, motivated colleagues.
  • Has skills in Linux containerisation technologies, Linux desktop environments, C/C++, Go, Python, and Shell scripting.
  • Has good communication skills for both internal and external interactions.
  • Can travel twice a year for company events up to two weeks long.
