This is a highly rewarding opportunity to take on a leadership role in our software development team. As an Engineering Manager at Canonical, you will be responsible for leading a team of engineers in the Americas, Europe, Middle East, or Africa time zones.

Main Responsibilities

• Develop and implement effective strategies to drive team growth and productivity.\
• Set clear expectations with other engineering teams, management, and external stakeholders.\
• Collaborate closely with other Engineering Managers, product managers, and architects to produce an engineering roadmap.\
• Mentor and coach team members to help them grow as engineers.\
• Foster a healthy, collaborative engineering culture that aligns with our company values.\
• Develop clean web service APIs to support both CLI and web frontend clients using Python and optionally Golang.\
• Engage with various teams at Canonical, as well as the open-source community and commercial partners.\
• Travel up to 4 times a year for internal events.\
• Stay up-to-date with the latest software development trends and technologies.\
• Contribute to the development of high-quality software products.\
• Ensure the timely delivery of software projects.\
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize project goals.\
• Develop and maintain technical documentation.\
• Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards.\
• Identify and mitigate potential risks and issues that may impact project timelines or quality.\
• Stay organized and manage competing priorities effectively.\
• Maintain open communication channels with team members, stakeholders, and customers.\
• Continuously evaluate and improve processes to increase efficiency and productivity.\
• Cultivate a positive work environment that encourages innovation and collaboration.\
• Represent the team and the company in a professional manner.\
• Adhere to company policies and procedures.\
