Job Overview

The Investment Back Office Manager oversees post-trade operational activities related to investment transactions, ensuring accurate and timely transaction settlement, reconciliation, custody, and reporting of investment portfolios while maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements.

Main Responsibilities
  • Operational Oversight:
    • Oversight of trade capture, confirmation, settlement, and lifecycle management for securities, derivatives, and other investment instruments.
    • Accurate and timely daily sell and buy foreign market trades and local market settlements.
    • Processing and control over brokerage account opening processes, ensuring speed, quality, and compliance.
    • Work distribution based on volume and complexity to team members.
    • Monitoring and authorization of investment transactions, ensuring correctness in financial, technical, and regulatory aspects.
    • Payment message processing related to investment products/settlements.
    • Risk Management & Compliance:
      • Sanctions and compliance screening conducted as per bank policies.
      • Maintaining robust internal controls to mitigate risks in investment transactions processing.
      • Transaction reconciliations with general ledger (daily, weekly, monthly).
      • Risk assessments for all investment-product transaction processes and control measures implementation.
      • Financial entries, system-generated output validation, and data postings accurately recorded.
      • Correct calculation and recovery of commissions and charges alignment with the bank's tariff structure.
      • Nostro reconciliations in collaboration with the Finance department.
      • Valuations & Reporting:
        • Accuracy of pricing, NAV calculations, investment accounting entries, and management/regulatory reporting.
        • Preparation and publishing of quarterly and annual financial statements on time.
        • Board Secretary of an equity fund.
        • Custody & Collateral:
          • Custodian oversight: managing relationships with custodians, clearing agents, and collateral counterparties.
          • Safekeeping of assets: proper custody and record-keeping of securities and other investment instruments.
          • Corporate actions processing – capturing, validating, and executing corporate actions and accurate posting in portfolios.
          • Income collection – monitoring and reconciling dividend/interest/coupon income, ensuring timely collection and accounting.
