Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Airline Systems Specialist to join our team. As an Airline Systems Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring the effective operation, support, and enhancement of airline systems.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Carry out daily operational tasks to support various airport systems and users.
  • Develop processes for performance monitoring of the systems and take proactive actions.
  • Develop, train, and lead a team of support professionals with the necessary skill sets for supporting the airline application systems.
  • Monitor the performance of all airline systems installed and in use at all locations and interact with the third-party vendor responsible for maintenance of these applications.
  • Responsible for configuration, system administration, and data management for the airline applications system.
  • Ensure proper functioning and maintenance of the systems.
  • Constantly monitor airport requirements and upgrade system functionalities to match them.
  • Manage the implementation of IT policies and procedures approved by management.
  • Involves in the technical evaluation of bids relating to IT airport systems.
  • Maintain contacts with software vendors and provide IT teams with statistics reports to monitor the support of business applications to ensure maximum availability of the systems.
  • Ensure that user requirements are addressed efficiently and within agreed service levels.
  • Contact and coordination with airline system service providers on various issues related to airport systems.
  • Assist in handling all issues related to OV reservation offices (e.g., Sabre software support for check-in counters and back offices).
  • Assist in implementing the required IT tools and systems to ensure that all flight handling operations are performed in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Ensure all IT infrastructure is in place and operational to support airport activities.
  • Technically support all IT equipment at Muscat and OV outstations. Follow up with local IT companies for maintenance of all IT equipment.
  • Support all technical issues raised by domestic stations, including check-in systems like Check-ins, Reservations, Sitatex, etc.
  • Install and configure GDS software and GDS printers, provide support for Reservation and ACSI check-in system users by resolving software problems, and ensure that the problems reported from the users are resolved at the earliest for smooth functioning of the systems.
  • Assist in managing system access and security requirements for OV airline system users.
  • Able to time manage - prioritize and escalate calls based on knowledge of the business impact of the reported problems.
  • Resolve as many calls as possible where these are related to standard packages deployed in the user department.
  • Update incident records with status and other information from time to time for future reference and practice.
  • Any other responsibilities assigned by management as and when necessary.

Requirements:

Education & Experience:

  • Graduate degree with specialization in IT or any graduate degree with a Higher Diploma in IT.
  • 5 years of related work experience.

Special Skills & Knowledge:

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Good business analysis and project management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Good working knowledge of airline business operations.
  • Knowledge of relevant airline or travel systems.
  • Able to install, configure, and maintain personal computers, networks, and related hardware and software.
  • Knowledge of computer and/or network security systems, applications, procedures, and techniques.
  • Able to identify and resolve computer system malfunctions and operational problems.
  • Able to coordinate with vendors and service providers on airport systems.
