Sr. Officer

Job Purpose:

The Senior Officer - Loan Review meticulously assesses and analyzes loan portfolios, ensures adherence to legal, financial, and operational standards. He/ She reviews loan documents for accuracy and compliance, assesses completeness, and identifies potential risks.

The Senior Officer - Loan Review conducts portfolio analysis, monitors classification and declassification of loans, maintains up-to-date loan review reports, and communicates the findings and recommendations effectively.

Key Accountabilities:

• Reviews and validates ongoing compliance with loan covenants and post-disbursement conditions, ensuring alignment with internal policies and regulatory expectations.
• Conducts proactive monitoring of the credit portfolio, including review of past dues and early identification of credit deterioration to mitigate potential risks.
• Performs comprehensive, independent assessments of assigned loan portfolios, encompassing a broad range of loan types and exposure levels.
• Evaluates loan documentation for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with applicable regulatory and institutional standards.
• Analyzes ECL/provision movements and recommends strategic actions to effectively manage credit risk provisions.
• Proposes enhancements and refinements to loan products to ensure continued compliance with evolving regulatory and organizational requirements.
• Prepares and maintains detailed, accurate, and timely loan review reports to support risk management and audit readiness.
• Communicates key findings, insights, and recommendations with internal stakeholders and, where applicable, external parties to support informed decision-making.
• Collaborates closely with cross-functional teams to remediate identified deficiencies and to promote streamlined and compliant loan operations.
• Provides oversight on adherence to procedural guidelines to support operational efficiency in lending processes.
• Advises loan officers regarding any gaps, delays, or issues identified during the loan review process, promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
• Monitors the classification and declassification of loans in line with risk assessment frameworks and regulatory directives.
• Supports the development and refinement of IFRS 9 ECL models to enhance accuracy and forecasting of credit risk.
• Maintains up-to-date knowledge of changes in lending regulations and internal policies, ensuring continued relevance and compliance of loan practices.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor s degree in Finance, Accounting or a related major is preferred.
• A professional certification in Credit Risk Management or Loan Review is desired.
• Minimum of 3 years experience in loan review at a bank is preferred.
• Demonstrates knowledge of ethical and financial practices related to lender documentation.
• Validates understanding of local central bank regulations concerning lending.
• Good understanding of Credit Risk Management and Loan Review Mechanisms.
• Understands IFRS 9 ECL computation and model methodologies.
• Strong knowledge of lending standards, procedures, and controls.
