Job Summary:
The Commis Chef supports the kitchen team by preparing ingredients, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring smooth kitchen operations. This entry-level role is ideal for individuals starting their culinary career and looking to learn under the guidance of experienced chefs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in food preparation and basic cooking under the supervision of senior chefs
- Wash, peel, chop, and cut vegetables, fruits, and other ingredients
- Measure and mix ingredients according to recipes or instructions
- Keep workstations clean, organized, and sanitized at all times
- Follow food hygiene and safety standards strictly
- Store food properly and monitor stock levels for freshness
- Learn and apply cooking techniques and recipes as directed
- Assist with receiving and organizing deliveries
- Dispose of waste appropriately and maintain kitchen cleanliness
- Perform other tasks as assigned by supervisors to support kitchen efficiency
Requirements:
- Basic knowledge of kitchen operations and food preparation
- Passion for cooking and willingness to learn
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Good communication and organizational skills
- Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and holidays
- Physical stamina to stand for long periods and perform manual tasks
