Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Pastry/Bakery Commis to join our pre-opening team at voco Muscat Al Mouj. As part of our dynamic kitchen team, you will assist in the preparation of a variety of baked goods, pastries, and desserts under the guidance of senior pastry chefs.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for baking and a strong work ethic. They will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and organization of the pastry and bakery workstation, ensuring proper storage, labeling, and rotation of ingredients and finished products, following hygiene and food safety standards at all times.

In addition, they will operate bakery equipment safely and effectively under supervision, participate in the setup and breakdown of the pastry section for service, and maintain a high level of quality and presentation in all dishes.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Culinary diploma or certification in Baking & Pastry from a recognized institution is preferred
  • Previous experience or internship in a pastry/bakery environment is an advantage
  • Basic understanding of baking techniques, ingredients, and equipment
  • Willingness to learn and take direction
  • Good communication skills and a strong sense of teamwork
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure kitchen environment
