Water Leak Detection Specialist

About the Role:

We are looking for a skilled
Water Leak Detection Specialist
to join our field operations team. This is a fully site-based role, requiring hands-on experience in detecting and managing water leaks across a variety of infrastructure environments. The successful candidate will work independently while contributing to a collaborative team focused on water efficiency and asset management.

Key Responsibilities:

• Detect and locate water leaks using a range of tools including amplified listening devices, ground microphones, accelerometers, correlation methods, tracer gases, in-line inspections, and pipe tracers.
• Conduct pressure readings, flow measurements, and short segment step tests to confirm leak locations.
• Utilize metal detectors to locate hidden assets and valves.
• Record and manage field data using specialized software.
• Interpret utility drawings and field data to plan leak detection activities effectively.
• Perform leakage surveys, identify faulty meters, and detect illegal connections, reporting findings for corrective action.
• Conduct follow-up inspections to verify repairs, meter replacements, and disconnections.
• Apply knowledge of District Metered Areas (DMAs) for monitoring and water loss reduction.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor's or Diploma in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant field experience in water leak detection or related utilities.
• Hands-on experience with ultrasonic flow meters, pressure gauges, and industry-standard leak detection equipment (e.g., Severn/FAST or equivalent).
• Ability to work independently in the field while maintaining high safety and quality standards.
