Role Purpose:

To prepare the annual Budgeting and quarterly forecasting - OPEX for Omantel Telecommunications company, implement cost reduction programs for the company in line with the best practices, monitor the spending of budget, and assist in cost optimization program.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Assist in preparing the annual budget for Omantel based on previous year's performance, and in response to economic conditions and revenue growth in line with the overall company strategy.
  • Collaborate with budget owners/coordinators to provide budgetary supported documents/Templates within agreed timelines.
  • Perform a deep dive analysis on the budget submissions cost center wise and account wise and report back to Strategic Finance management.
  • Design trend analysis and drive estimated amounts using historical OPEX records.
  • Assist in preparing the financial forecasting for Omantel on a quarterly basis based on current year estimated performance, and highlight the risks along with recommendations to achieve the budgeted PAT target.
  • Monitor budgetary systems to ensure functional efficiencies and resolve any issues.
  • Communicate and solve End-user OPEX issues.
  • Ensure constant overview of cost centers and account levels by reviewing variances in proposed budgetary requirements submitted by GMs and VPs and prepare periodic reports for Senior Management.
  • Run Budget variances report from EPBCS system on a monthly basis and notify end-users for any major spending.
  • Prepare weekly/monthly/quarterly performance reports that are accurate, complete and conform to policies for Management review.
  • Track all identified cost optimization opportunities for the year and report to Finance management on a monthly/quarterly basis the progress of the initiatives.
  • Keep track of all resolutions related to Organization chart, update organization chart along with leadership vacancies as well as cost Centre chart.
  • Review OPEX Business cases more than RO 10K for an average of 100 Business cases per year. Analyze OPEX business cases, report financial and non-financial information that helps managers make decisions to fulfill the organization goals.
  • Implement and assist in cost optimization programs for the company in line with the best practices.
  • Facilitate troubleshooting on EPBCS and resolve end user inquiries for EPBCS. Coordinate with Support and technical team for resolution of problems.
  • Assist on budget loading into GL/EPBCS (monthly and yearly exercises) and maintain backups. Resolve with the technical team any system integration issues.
  • Participate in the efforts for automation of the budgeting and forecasting processes and activate Strategic Finance rule as business partners through providing interactive tools and dashboards for budget utilization.
  • Perform monthly data reconciliation of loaded ERP data and end user reports.
  • Provide inclusive forecasting and planning, performing variance analysis, reviewing and monitoring OPEX.
  • Share knowledge with team members to enhance their understanding of budgeting processes.
  • Assist various departments in putting in place Budgeting and cost optimization processes.
  • Provide guidance and ensure that Financial Planning and Budgeting department complies with Omantel policies, processes, practices, and systems.
