Job Description

Purpose

The main purpose of the Project Engineer is to support the development, design, and construction management of CDDC's projects within the Convention District. This includes close coordination with operators, consultants, and the Sales & Marketing team to ensure project goals are met efficiently and in alignment with CDDC's strategic vision. The role is also responsible for safeguarding the interests of CDDC and its partners by minimizing risks, managing claims, and ensuring compliance throughout the project lifecycle..

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Project Manager in planning and overseeing the execution of construction activities for assigned CDDC projects.
  • Support the development of cost estimates and contribute to the preparation of project budgets.
  • Monitor financial performance against the approved budget to ensure alignment with project goals, identify variances, and recommend corrective actions where necessary.
  • Implement departmental policies, procedures, and controls to ensure compliance with internal standards and regulatory requirements, while delivering high-quality and cost-effective project outcomes.

People

Coordinate effectively with team members and cross-functional departments to support seamless project execution.

Provide guidance and mentorship to trainees or junior engineers involved in project activities.

Maintain strong working relationships with internal teams including Design, Sales & Marketing, and Operations to ensure projects are managed efficiently and collaboratively.

Operational

  • Ensure effective coordination and relationship management with all internal and external stakeholders, including CDDC business units, clients, hotel operators, vendors, suppliers, contractors, and service providers, maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and business ethics to support successful project delivery.
  • Assist in preparing job start-up and close-out checklists for various construction packages to ensure organized and efficient project execution.
  • Support the preparation and regular updating of detailed project construction progress schedules in collaboration with the Project Manager, contractors, and consultants.
  • Maintain accurate tracking of project-related documentation, including drawings, contract documents, submittals, RFIs, change orders, and material delivery logs to ensure timely information flow and project control.
  • Contribute to the preparation of monthly project status reports and assist in the development of project cost analyses.
  • Possess and maintain a solid understanding of project plans, specifications, daily correspondence, drawings, and all other relevant documentation.
  • Assist in the timely processing of payments and invoices to consultants and contractors, ensuring financial commitments are met without delay.
  • Keep the Head of Development informed of any project-related issues or risks, ensuring proactive communication and timely resolution.
  • Encourage a culture of continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance systems, processes, and practices in line with international best practices, focusing on cost efficiency and productivity.
  • Perform any other related duties or tasks as assigned to support the overall success of CDDC's development projects.

Education & Experience

Education: Diploma in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.

Experience: No prior experience required. On-the-job training will be provided.
