Job Title: Sr. Accountant

Department: Accounts

Contract duration: One Year Extendable

Job Purpose:

To oversee and manage the company's accounting operations, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with financial regulations and internal policies. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for carrying out the accounting tasks of the company, including invoicing, payment of suppliers, ensuring compliance with regulations and guidelines in the fields of freight forwarding, warehousing, and transport, and will be responsible for keeping track of all financial transactions under his/her supervision of the company.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

  1. Ensure accurate and timely preparation of invoice booking against service entries & vendor bills are reviewed and validated in the system to adhere to accounting policies.
  2. Process all receipts and payments as per credit terms/instructions with no overdue.
  3. Follow up on accrued logistics income and expenses / unbilled invoices and open Purchase orders for the book closure.
  4. Reconcile customer and vendor ledgers and keep them up to date by closing unbilled invoices and LPOs, and contract receipts and payments on a job-by-job basis.
  5. Prepare payments/receipts by verifying documentation and requesting disbursements & collections and maintain the records.
  6. Carry out reconciliation with customer and supplier statements & obtain confirmation of balances.
  7. Maintain finance petty cash and settle any urgent and immediate payments required.
  8. Prepare accounting reports for presentation to the management team.
  9. Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial data.
  10. Review journal entries, accruals, and month-end closing activities.
  11. Monitor and manage accounts payable and receivable cycles.
  12. Ensure timely processing of invoices, payments, and collections.
  13. Perform regular bank reconciliations and ensure proper documentation and recording of all banking transactions.
  14. Use ERP/accounting systems effectively and ensure data accuracy.
  15. Supervise and guide junior accountants and finance staff in their daily tasks.
  16. Identify skill gaps and propose training opportunities to enhance team capabilities.
  17. Support the professional growth of team members through on-the-job training, mentoring, and knowledge sharing.
  18. Assist in setting performance objectives and KPIs for accounting team members.
  19. Work closely with other departments (e.g., procurement, operations, sales, HR) to ensure alignment on financial processes, data, and reporting.

Education & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
  • Master's degree in accounting, Finance, or Business Administration (preferred).
  • A minimum of 3+ years of progressive accounting experience.
