About The Job

Chief Accountant reports to the Assistant Director of Finance.

As Chief Accountant, you will be responsible for the following duties:

1. Assisting the Assistant Director of Finance and Director of Finance in order to ensure that all of the accounting colleagues understand and follow the applicable policies and procedures that are outlined in the company's accounting policies & procedures manual.
2. Monitoring and supervising the accounting department's daily routines to ensure smooth, effective, and efficient daily work practices.
3. Preparing and supervising the account reconciliations, account analysis, and closing procedures at month end.
4. Verifying the accuracy and timeliness of all night audit/ hotel revenue transactions and monitoring adherence to established procedures. Also, the Chief Accountant is responsible for the accuracy of all internal reporting.
5. Supervising the filling and maintenance of all accounting related documents and records in accordance with the document retention policy.
6. Ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of municipality fees and licenses reporting and payment.
7. Verifying daily bank balances through review of the bank statements for all bank transactions and prepare the bank reconciliations to be submitted to the Assistant Director of Finance and Director of Finance for approval.
8. Verifying the accuracy of the general cashier report and revenue receipts are daily deposited into the bank by the general cashier.
9. Conducting a productive monthly departmental meeting together with Assistant Director of Finance to communicate pertinent departmental, hotel and company information.
10. Verifying that journals and journal vouchers are properly recorded and accurate and posted timely.
11. Verifying that the general ledger (GL) and sub-ledger (SL) postings are accurate, ensure that GL and SL balances correspond and all contra/ clearance accounts are cleared at month-end.
12. Preparing financial statements, accruals and journal entries, and maintaining reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts in established corporate formats and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
13. Ensuring timely and accurate submission of all related reports both to management and owning companies and compliance to all policy & procedures.
14. Maintaining an updated and accurate Chart of Accounts in the Accounting System.
15. Maintaining close communication with the public auditors and communicate instructions for the preparation of internal and external audits, preparing all necessary data and documents, in conjunction with the Assistant Director of Finance and Director of Finance.
16. Working with the Assistant Director of Finance and Director of Finance to plan, recruit, and hire departmental staff. Also, the Chief Accountant must oversee the training, and development of the departmental colleagues.
17. Performing related tasks and duties as assigned by the Assistant Director of Finance and Director of Finance such as assisting with forecasting, budgeting, internal control, and completing account analysis.
18. Monthly preparation and filing of the business taxes of the Hotel in a timely manner.
19. Ensuring that all tax matters are treated in a proper manner and in compliance with related legislation.
20. Following up on any tax changes and other legislations.
21. Attending seminars for tax updates.
22. Maintaining a working knowledge of the accounting regulations of the region where the hotel is located.
23. Having a thorough knowledge of the contents of all Hotel Policies & Procedures.
24. Ensuring full compliance with internal controls as listed in the Control Self-Assessment Questionnaires (CSAQ).
25. Supervising the day-to-day functions of all Accounting Colleagues including assisting them when necessary to stay current.
26. Assisting/performing in Assistant Director of Finance, Paymaster and Credit Manager functions as required/needed.
