Safety and Security Expert

  • This role requires a strong understanding of safety and security protocols to ensure the vessel operates within regulatory frameworks and industry standards.

  • The Master will oversee the implementation of the safety management system, identifying areas for improvement and communicating these findings to shore-based management.

  • Maintenance of valid statutory certification is crucial for the safe operation of the vessel.

  • The Master will drive crew engagement and adherence to the safety management system, promoting a culture of safety awareness.

  • As tug manager, the Master will coordinate crew attendance, store provision, and operation readiness.

  • Compliance with health, safety, environment, and security management systems and procedures, including cyber security protocols.

  • Familiarity with relevant OH&S, environmental, and security regulations associated with tug operations and reporting accordingly.

  • The Master will address crew discipline matters, escalating issues to management when necessary.

  • Supporting tug maintenance activities as required.

  • Preparation of operational reports as necessary.

  • Participation in safety training, including training of other crew members.

  • Induction training for visitors, employees, and authorized personnel accessing the vessel.

  • Collaboration with management on operational improvement initiatives, promoting a culture of continuous improvement.

  • Ensuring sufficient resources for onboard activities and tasks, such as cargo operations and ballast operations.
