Drilling Operations Specialist

An opportunity has arisen for a skilled professional to lead drilling operations in Gabon and Cameroon. The successful candidate will report directly to the Drilling Manager and work closely with the Drilling Superintendent, Contract Drilling Teams, Geologists, and Contract Engineers.

Key Responsibilities include:
  1. Lead engineer for exploration, delineation, and development operations.
  2. Support the Well Engineering Manager and perform drilling engineering and procedure writing in cooperation with support functions.
  3. Identify technologies and solutions for optimal drilling methods.
  4. Undertake special drilling studies on specific topics, covering feasibility studies, generic Field Development Plans, and drilling optimization studies.
  5. Prepare all input to Well Proposals, TD, Basis Of Design etc. in conjunction with the Support Team.
  6. Prepare well cost estimates and submit as per procedure.
  7. Prepare specialist reports on drilling aspects of operations.
  8. Conduct after action reviews.
  9. Assist in preparing final well reports.
  10. Develop and maintain drilling related document archives.
  11. Provide duty cover and delegate to Well Engineering Manager as requested.
  12. Input to new drilling policies, procedures, manuals, and guidelines in accordance with corporate standards.
Requirements
  • Degree qualification or equivalent.
  • Ability to write and speak English fluently, French (Chinese Mandarin would be a positive).
  • Strong contract development and administration skills.
  • Ability to function in a multi-discipline team.
  • Communicate effectively in a corporate environment.
  • Operational experience in West Africa.
  • Exposure to start-up operations.
  • Offshore field experience as a Drilling Engineer/Supervisor.
