Linux Support Engineer

Are you a skilled and motivated individual looking to build a career in technical support? Do you have a passion for Linux and open-source technologies?

We are seeking an Associate Support Engineer to join our team, providing technical support to customers using Ubuntu and open-source products. As a member of our global team, you will work closely with industry-leading professionals to deliver exceptional customer experiences.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide remote technical support to employees via telephone, email, and web.
  • Take ownership of new cases, ensuring timely updates and high customer satisfaction.
  • Act as an internal customer advocate, communicating effectively with colleagues.
  • Contribute to knowledge base articles, ensuring shared knowledge is available to customers.
  • Draft and distribute technical notices for internal and external communication.
  • Prioritize tasks to achieve important and urgent objectives.
  • Stay up-to-date with product growth and evolution.
  • Understand the Ubuntu development process to set accurate customer expectations.
  • Maintain regular communication with the team locally and remotely.
  • Identify opportunities to provide better service.
  • Participate in weekend working rotations.
Requirements
  • Exceptional academic record from high school and university.
  • Technical undergraduate degree or compelling narrative about alternative chosen path.
  • Confidence in respectfully speaking up, exchanging feedback, and sharing ideas.
  • Track record of exceeding expectations to achieve outstanding results.
  • Experience in Linux troubleshooting, including log collection and configuration file editing.
  • Knowledge or hands-on experience in two or more areas:
    • Linux server administration.
    • Programming fundamentals in any language.
    • Networking concepts (bonding, firewalling, bridging, etc.).
    • Virtualization / Cloud computing concepts (provisioning, monitoring, etc.).
  • Ability to learn quickly, adapt to change, and handle pressure in a customer-facing role.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Awareness of diversity and effective communication in a multi-cultural organization.
  • Result-oriented personal drive to meet commitments.
  • Ability to travel internationally twice a year for company events.
Nice-to-Have Skills
  • Experience supporting virtualized environments.
  • Active contribution to open-source projects.
